Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU) is one of the largest academic institutions in Austria. The Department of Cooperative Information Systems (CIS) (formerly the Information Systems Group (IFS) and the Department of Telecooperation (TK)), being the main protagonist of CSI at the JKU, has a strong tradition in teaching and research in semantic information systems engineering, conceptual modeling, integration engineering, context-aware systems and database systems. Specifically, the focus has centered around four different research fields, namely,
- integration of heterogeneous systems,
- development and application of semantic technologies for model engineering and road traffic management systems,
- model-driven development of ubiquitous web applications and context-aware systems, and finally
- performance issues in large scale software systems.
Especially these four research fields are of major importance for CSI providing an excellent starting point for realizing the key research goals followed by CSI.
